Saint Martha Plaza predominantly serves agricultural worker families. Built under the Evergreen Sustainable Development Standard, this project embraces sustainability through Energy Star appliances and low-flow fixtures, low VOC paints and adhesives, and energy efficient lighting and hot water heaters. Photovoltaic panels provide electricity to the community building where hot water is also generated by solar in the common area laundry room. The community building also includes a computer lab, office area, kitchen, and a community gathering room for residents. Residential buildings are arranged around a central open area and playground, which many apartment kitchen windows overlook so adults inside can watch over children playing outside.
